Whether you shoot RAW or JPEG, Fotello’s got you covered. Our platform is built to support your workflow—not force you into a new one.
We support all RAW formats (ARW, NEF, CR3 etc.) and JPEGs, so you can upload straight from your camera with no conversions, no fuss.
Best Practices for File Formats
Here’s how to get the best results every time:
Stick to uncompressed RAWs or high-quality JPEGs
Some camera settings apply compression to RAW files (like “Lossless Compression,” “High Efficiency,” or “HEIF/HEVC” modes). These are often proprietary formats, and we can’t support them yet.➤ We recommend turning those off and shooting uncompressed / standard RAW or standard JPEG to avoid upload or preview issues.
Double-check your settings before a shoot
A quick peek in your camera menu can save you from hours of head-scratching later.
RAW vs. JPEG — Which One Should You Use?
Let’s break it down:
RAW files give you maximum dynamic range and detail, which means our AI has more to work with—especially useful in scenes with tricky lighting (think window pulls, dark corners, bright skies).
JPEGs, on the other hand, upload faster and are easier to work with if you need speed—like editing on-site or delivering same-day turnarounds.
So which is better? It depends on your business:
Your Focus | Best Choice |
Image quality, brand differentiation | RAW |
Speed, on-site delivery, file size | JPEG |
Want to Test Both?
Try shooting the same scene in RAW and JPEG, upload both to Fotello, and compare the results. We’ll even credit the listing if you’re testing formats—just send us a quick chat message.
